Orsolya Mód

In her artistic practice, string quartet playing, orchestra playing and teaching live in creative interaction. As an artist of the Budapest Festival Orchestra, founded by Iván Fischer, she has been participating in the orchestra’s extensive activities since 2007. Alongside her orchestra concerts, she is a member of the group’s baroque ensemble – in the past years, she played among others with Sigiswald Kuiken, Reinhard Göbel, Jonathan Cohen, Midori Seiler, Jordi Savall. Orsolya is a regular partaker of chamber music productions and gladly plays along the BFO children’s programs. Thanks to Rondo Quartet, a formation founded with her fellows from the Music Academy Budapest, chamber music has become an essential part of her everyday life. She has been teaching at the Music Department of the University of Szeged since September 2018, while she’s also been a teacher of the Snétberger Központ since 2017. She earned a DLA doctor’s degree, summa cum laude in 2015. She graduated at the Ferenc Liszt University of Music as a student of László Mező, in 2007. She participated in masterclasses by Wolfgang Boettcher, Emilio Colón, Jens-Peter Maintz, Róbert Nagy, Miklós Perényi, Troels Svane, Joseph Podhoransky and Tamás Varga. She graduated from high school in the the class of László Papp in Debrecen, 2002. A determinant musical experience of her childhood was the performing of Vivaldi’s G minor double cello concerto in 1996, with the Wiener Kammerorchester conducted by Sándor Végh. She started playing the cello at 8 at the music school of Szentgotthárd, where she received professional attention and support from the beginning of her career.

Áron Dóczi

Áron Dóczi was born to a musician-family in 1982, Veszprém (Hungary). He began his violin studies at the age of five, then was admitted to the Bartók Conservatory and after to the Franz Liszt Academy of Music (Budapest) in the class of Péter Komlós (first violinist of the Bartók Quartet). He received his diploma in 2007 and continued his studies with Gyula Stuller in Lausanne (Switzerland). During the years in Switzerland, Áron played regularly as concertmaster at Orchestre de Chambre Fribourg and as a member of Orchestre de Chambre Lausanne. He has been concertmaster of Filharmonia Zugló (Budapest) and section leader of the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra recently. He won first prize at Zathureczky Violin Competition (Budapest) in 2009. Since 2003 Áron Dóczi has been member of Rondo Quartet as a founder. His repertoir and his musical range of interest are very wide: he plays the baroque violin and performs contemporary music with pleasure,too. Participated on masterclasses of Zakhar Bron, Barnabás Kelemen, Valery Gradov, Pavel Vernikov, Gábor Takács-Nagy and Gábor Csalog.

Dávid Pintér

Dávid Pintér was born in Mór, in 1983. He started playing the violin at the age of 6 in Veszprém, as a student of István Káté. From 1994 he studied at the Bartók Conservatory of Music, where his teachers were Teréz Pichner and Erika Petőfi. He graduated from Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 2007 as a student of István Kertész and continued his studies for two more years at the University of Music in Karlsruhe, with professor Ulf Hoelscher. He participated in master courses of Vilmos Szabadi, Ferenc Szecsődi, Simon Standage, Ulf Hoelscher, Zakhar Bron and Eduard Zienkovsky. He began his doctoral studies at the Liszt Academy in 2009. He earned his Ph.D. in 2016, summa cum laude. He is a leader of the second violin section of the Hungarian State Opera since 2011. Besides this role, he has been teaching violin at the Liszt Academy since 2012, and since the fall of 2018, he works as the concertmaster of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra. He joyfully and regularly plays in chamber music performances and as such is a founder of Rondo Quartet. Pintér is prize winner of several regional and international violin competitions. In 1992 and 2001 special prize winner at the János Koncz National Violin Competition and got 4th place in Canetti International Violin Competition in Miskolc, 2005. In the same year, he was given the Pro Arte gold prize of OMDK (National Students’ Art Conference) in Szeged, as well as receiving the first prize. In 2007, he won the Artisjus special prize for the exceptional performance of the contemporary piece at the Szigeti-Hubay International Violin Competition. He also won a special prize in 2008 at the Flesch Károly International Violin Competition in Mosonmagyaróvár. He brought home the 2nd prize from the Weiner Leó National Competition of Chamber Music twice in 2006 and in 2010, as a member of Rondo Quartet.

Péter Tornyai

Péter Tornyai is a composer and chamber musician. He represents the musical tradition in which the composer and the performer’s character fills up the musical life in an inseparable way. He studied violin and composition in his hometown, Szeged, then later in Budapest at the Liszt Ferenc University. He graduated in 2012, as a student of István Kertész and Zoltán Jeney . Already in his student years, his interest has turned mainly towards chamber music, under the direction of his decisive teachers Balázs Arnóth, Gábor Csalog, János Rolla, and Rita Wagner, among others. In recent years he has mainly performed playing the viola, aligning himself with the violist-composers’ century-long tradition. He joined Rondo Quartet in 2008, while also being a founder of Classicus Quartet. He often plays contemporary music in various groups (THReNSeMBle, UMZE, Ludium), with many premieres and Hungarian first performances. Tornyai is the artistic director of the Anima Musicae Contemporary Music Workshop where he functions as a program editor and a conductor as well. He is a founding member of CentriFUGA contemporary musical workshop and the Hermina Artists Collective. Here, beside traditional concert pieces, he creates audiovisual installations as well. At present, he is a doctorate student of the Academy and teacher of the composition and postgraduate chamber music department, teaching instrumentation, composing, analysis and contemporary chamber music. In 2015 he worked under the mentorship of Péter Eötvös, in 2016 he won Junior Prima Prize and in 2017 Artisjus Award. His pieces were awarded in several national and international competitions and were played throughout Europe, in the USA, and in New Zealand, too.
